AALS is pleased to offer a new option for appointments committees to streamline the process of conducting screening interviews, ease the administrative burden of scheduling, and concentrate meetings with faculty candidates over a convenient two-day time period.  

Virtual Faculty Recruitment Conference 

September 18 – 19, 2025 

Learn more about how our conference partner Vidcruiter makes it easy to invite candidates to interview, schedule and reschedule timeslots, and conduct live video interviews from any web browser. 

Participation in the virtual Faculty Recruitment Conference is optional and included in the cost of your school’s participation in AALS Faculty Appointments Services. We hope many of you will take advantage of this new conference—if you are the chair of a committee that would like to participate, please submit the intake form emailed to you on July 21 at your earliest convenience.  

Important Dates 

July 21 – Committee chairs and administrators receive emailed intake form for Vidcruiter platform account creation. Please submit this form once (and only once) per hiring committee

July 31 AALS Workshop for Appointments Committees, which will include a 15-minute demonstration of the Vidcruiter platform.  

August 1 – Deadline to confirm your participation in the conference and submit the intake form.  

August 7 – Committee chairs and administrators receive links to complete their profile creation. Please complete this process within 24 hours. 

August 20 – In-depth Vidcruiter training for all committee chairs and members. Committees participating in the FRC will receive an invite for this training after August 1.  

August 25 – All interviewers receive links to test the Vidcruiter platform on their personal devices. 

September 12 – All interviewers receive their schedule and links to the live interviews with candidates. 

September 18 – 19 – Faculty Recruitment Conference.

FAQs 

What time zone is this conference? 

Conference hours are 9am – 5pm in your local time zone, which your hiring committee chair or administrator designated during the process of account creation.  

What if we have more interviews than we are able to schedule? Can we use the platform outside of listed hours? 

We are exploring the possibility of making the platform available before and/or after the conference dates. Please stay tuned for more information.  

What if a candidate needs to reschedule? 

Candidates will be able to reschedule their interviews in order to accommodate complex scheduling. Interviews may be rescheduled through the platform multiple times if necessary. Rescheduling will cut off five days before the conference begins, on September 13, after which candidates will need to contact school appointments committees directly if they need to alter their arrangements.  

Can candidates see which schools are participating? 

Candidates only see the schools that invite them for an interview. 

What happens to interview recordings and chat logs? 

As the owners and operators of the Faculty Recruitment Conference event, AALS will never access, examine, or share chat logs, video recordings, and notes taken during interviews. This data is stored securely on servers owned by VidCruiter, the interviewing platform. Committee chairs and administrative users may download this data any time after the conclusion of an interview until it is permanently deleted after 30 days. 

What if my school has multiple hiring committees? 

You will need to submit the Vidcruiter intake form separately for each hiring committee. Please contact [email protected] for more information.
