Fordham Law creates scholarship program in honor of Judge Deborah A. Batts
FORDHAM LAW NEWS — To honor Judge Deborah A. Batts, a trailblazing legal scholar and pioneering jurist, Fordham Law School has created a new scholarship program and announced its first recipients. Judge Batts was the first Black faculty member to receive tenure at Fordham Law and a U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of New York.

Geneen Charitable Trust, which provided a major gift in February 2020 to establish a new scholarship to support a full-time student in Fordham Law’s Master of Studies in Law (M.S.L.) in Corporate Compliance program, has renewed that support for the 2021-22 academic year.

FORDHAM LAW NEWS — Fordham Law School Professor Rebecca Kysar was sworn in as counselor to the assistant secretary of tax policy in the U.S. Department of the Treasury yesterday. Kysar will handle engagement with multilateral international tax affairs, as well as development and implementation of domestic tax policies in this position.

FORDHAM LAW NEWS — On January 22, Fordham Law’s Dispute Resolution Society Domestic Arbitration teams advanced to the National semifinals and then won the 2020-2021 American Bar Association Arbitration Competition for Law Students. They beat Texas Tech University School of Law in the final round of the competition.
