FOX BANGOR — Maine women are impacting the lives of citizens throughout our state. As Women’s History Month draws to a close, we are choosing to highlight the work of just a few remarkable Maine females. Maine School of Law Dean Leigh Saufley is a Mainer through and through. The South Portland native graduated from the University of Maine in Orono and immediately put her education to work at a small law firm in Ellsworth. “When I left law school all I could think about was getting into court and helping people with their problems,” she said. Saufley later went on to work with the state’s attorney general before serving on the district and superior courts and the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. “Every one of them made a difference in the people’s lives in different ways.
Saufley said. Saufley is now in her second year as the dean of the University of Maine School of Law in Portland, helping to mentor and shape the lives of the next generation of lawyers.
