UC BERKELEY LAW — Berkeley Law Dean Erwin Chemerinsky announced Thursday that Indigenous Peoples’ Day is now a recognized holiday at the law school. The announcement directly results from campaigning by the Native American Law Students Association at Berkeley Law, or NALSA, a post on its Instagram account reads. The holiday, which falls annually on the second Monday of October, was first instituted in Berkeley in 1992 as a counter-celebration to Columbus Day.
