As privacy regulations tighten and donor expectations evolve, advancement teams are on the front lines of protecting both compliance and trust. But not every solution requires waiting for university-wide policy changes. In this session, we’ll explore the concrete steps Advancement can own today — from training gift officers on privacy-conscious contact reports, to setting research data standards, to vetting vendors and lead scoring tools. You’ll learn how thoughtful data practices reduce reputational and fundraising risk while strengthening donor confidence. Walk away with a clear sense of what’s in Advancement’s sphere of control, where to focus first, and how privacy-forward practices can future-proof your fundraising.
