PENN LAW — The University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School’s 2022 Global Institute for Human Rights (GIHR) is an interactive, immersive course of study aimed at undergraduates, graduate students, and junior professionals alike who are passionate about a career in human rights advocacy or who would like to enhance their awareness on such topics as women’s rights, climate justice, and the basic rights of migrants and refugees. Organized by Senior Adjunct Professor of Global Leadership, Academic Director of the GIHR, and esteemed women’s human rights scholar and practitioner Rangita de Silva de Alwis and the Law School’s Legal Education Programs, the 2022 course is being held as a live-virtual program from May 23 through June 3 on weekdays excluding Memorial Day (May 30) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET. The Institute is unique compared to traditional academic studies of human rights, as the focus of this program is to bring experienced human rights advocates and practitioners from around the world to the table, allowing them to share their experiences and career paths with the next generation of human rights advocates. The Institute identifies human rights as foundational to leadership. The bedrock principles of the human rights agenda are the bulwark of global citizenship.
