Rutgers Law launches Rayman L. Solomon Scholars Program for students dedicated to public service

THE DAILY TARGUM — Rutgers—Camden recently launched the Rayman L. Solomon Scholars Program at Rutgers Law School to aid students who have exhibited devotion to academic excellence and public service, according to the Rutgers Law School website. An anonymous donor provided $3.5 million to fund the program.

UC Berkeley Law dean and AALS President-elect Erwin Chemerisnky honored by AALS pro bono section

Duke Law Wrongful Convictions Clinic helps secure exoneration of client Willie Shaw

DUKE LAW — On Jan. 19 a Mecklenburg County Superior Court judge vacated the conviction and ordered the release of Wrongful Convictions Clinic client Willie George Shaw, who spent nearly six years in prison after entering an Alford plea in connection with the death of a nursing home resident. Shaw is the clinic’s 10th client to be exonerated.

USC Gould Law Immigration Clinic assists parents of son in cancer treatment in the US

USC GOULD SCHOOL OF LAW — A 15-year-old boy hospitalized at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles with an advanced brain tumor was reunited with his parents in July, thanks to the persistence of the USC Gould Immigration Clinic and alum Carson Scott (JD 2020). The clinic advocated for humanitarian parole for Alfredo’s parents.

Hofstra Law hosts Legal Innovation Tournament to develop apps that help serve underrepresented populations in dispute resolution
