University of Idaho Law students assist community with tax preparation
MOSCOW PULLMAN DAILY NEWS — The University of Idaho has assembled a team of IRS-certified student volunteers to provide direct tax filing assistance to those earning less than $57,000 a year. Organizers described the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, or VITA, as a “free H &R Block,” almost completely sponsored by the IRS.

KTVB 7 — Despite a national eviction moratorium being in place since last fall, over 300 evictions were filed in Ada and Canyon County courts from September to December 2020. And although that moratorium was extended to March 31, eviction court cases continue. In 2021, there have been over 200 eviction hearings in the Treasure Valley.

UC DAVIS SCHOOL OF LAW — Jennifer Puza ’21 helped win the release of Brian O’Donnell, an incarcerated man who had served 19 years of his 40-years-to-life sentence under California’s “three strikes” law. Puza argued a motion for O’Donnell’s resentencing, and release from prison, based on O’Donnell’s good conduct and rehabilitative efforts.
