University of San Diego Law alumnus defends the rights of underrepresented students

Penn Law students awarded Skadden fellowships

UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA LAW SCHOOL — Two Penn Law students, Albert Pak L’18 and Jayme Wiebold L’18, have been awarded Skadden Fellowships to pursue work in the public interest. Pak will work with Michigan Community Resources in Detroit, MI, and Wiebold will join Iowa Legal Aid.

Notre Dame Law alumnus opens legal aid clinic for low-income people in Hammond, IN

UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME LAW SCHOOL — Notre Dame Law alumni Tom and Marissa McDermott, both ’00 J.D, have created a legal aid clinic for low-income people in Hammond. Tom has been mayor of Hammond, IN. since 2004, and Marissa is now a circuit court judge in Lake County, IN, just outside of Chicago.

Notre Dame Law student named Bank of America Foundation Fellow

UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME LAW SCHOOL — Notre Dame Law student Terrence Way ’18 has been named the third Bank of America Foundation Fellow of 2018. Due to extra funding being available, the Bank of America Foundation was able to award one extra fellowship to a member of the Class of 2018.

UMKC Law alumna uses fellowship to get justice for victims

UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI-KANSAS CITY — UMKC Law alumna Dakkota Huber ’17 is the 2018 recipient of the Judge John W. Oliver Fellowship Program. Huber is currently in a clerkship position with Judge Robert L. Trout in the 16th Circuit Court of Jackson County, Missouri. Her eventual career goal is to become a prosecutor.

Mizzou Law student, alumnus win national writing competition

UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI — Mizzou Law 3L student George Koukaz received the Joseph T. McLaughlin Original Student Article Award from the International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution. Mizzou Law alumnus Art Hinshaw, ’93, LLM ’00, was also recognized at the event, winning Outstanding Professional Article. Hinshaw is currently Clinical Professor of Law at Arizona State.
