FORDHAM LAW NEWS — For the past five weeks, students and staff at Fordham Law School’s Federal Litigation Clinic and Criminal Defense Clinic have been working to secure the release of inmates whose medical conditions make them vulnerable to the COVID-19 virus, as well as those whose sentences are almost complete and those who are being held while awaiting trial.

Fordham Law co-hosts online moot court competition

University of Hawai’i names Camille Nelson as dean

LEWIS AND CLARK LAW SCHOOL — Professor Aliza Kaplan, Director of the Criminal Justice Reform Clinic, was cited by Justice Kavanaugh of the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) in his concurring opinion in Ramos v. Louisiana. Ramos v. Louisiana was decided by the United States Supreme Court on April 20, 2020, and strikes down non-unanimous jury convictions as unconstitutional.

University of Miami Law immigration clinic wins lawsuit to secure release of at-risk detainees

UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI SCHOOL OF LAW — In a decision on a suit brought by the University of Miami’s immigration clinic, a federal magistrate in Miami instructed Wednesday that Immigration and Customs Enforcement substantially lower the populations in three South Florida detention centers due to the likelihood of exposure to COVID-19.
