S.J. QUINNEY COLLEGE OF LAW — Ashley Caldwell, a current Master of Legal Studies student at the S.J. Quinney College of Law, recently won gold at the Winter 2022 Olympics in Beijing. Ashley and her two teammates recorded an impressive combined score of 338.34 in the mixed team aerials freestyle skiing event, edging out more experienced teams for the top spot. Mixed team aerials is a new event this year, meaning Ashley and her teammates are the only ones in the world to have this particular gold medal. Ashely also placed fourth in women’s aerials freestyle skiing. This is Ashley’s fourth Olympics, and you can learn more about Ashley’s impressive skiing career here. Perhaps just as impressive as her gold medal, was Ashley’s example of true sportsmanship. After just
barely missing out on winning a medal during her individual event, Ashley is seen hugging and celebrating with her competitor Xu Mengtao, who won gold in the event for China. We applaud Ashley’s example of Olympic spirit.
