UNIVERSITY OF BALTIMORE SCHOOL OF LAW — A trial team from The University of Baltimore School of Law won a regional division of the National Trial Competition (NTC) on Sunday, Feb. 6, and will compete in the nationals in Fort Worth, Texas, March 30 through April 3. The team of Annemarie Duerr, Brice Litus and Kaitlin O’Dowd won for their representation of a fictional defendant in a criminal trial. A second team, led by Leah Dotter, Amanda Sirleaf and Aaminah Woods, came very close to advancing to the regional semi-finals, having won two of the three preliminary rounds and five judges’ ballots. “This is a rather historic feat for Baltimore Law,” says Benjamin Beasley, J.D. ’14, who coached the team with Ashley Bond Beasley, J.D. ’16. It has been several years since a team from Baltimore Law competed on the national stage. “This is also the first all-female team we are aware of that has ever led the law school past the preliminary rounds and at nationals.”
