The Washburn University Law Clinic held its annual free legal services Saturday for low income veterans.

It's a way for the Washburn University Law Clinic to give back to veterans and their families who can't afford legal services.

Third year law students volunteer and represent them under the supervision of licensed attorneys.

"This is a way to give back to the community, to help people who have served our country and to increase access to justice in the legal system," Associate Professor of Law, Michelle Ewert said.

The goal is to help people who have trouble seeking employment due to their criminal record, as well as, increase their income and the quality of their housing.

Organizers say the services can help people feel more secure, feel better about their future and improve access to other opportunities.

The clinic is open year round for anyone seeking law advice.
