Eugene, Ore. – The Oregon State Bar (OSB) recently released July 2021 bar passage rates. University of Oregon School of Law alumni who took the exam for the first time outperformed the state average with a passage rate of 90%. The OSB reported that 84% of all first-time bar takers passed the July 2021 exam. Oregon Law’s passage rate for July 2021 surpassed its 2019 rate by 4 percentage points.

The state’s “effective” passage rate of 95% in 2020 was an anomaly because most bar applicants opted for the one-time diploma privilege offered by the Oregon Supreme Court. The effective pass rate combines those applicants who passed the exam on the first try and those who opted for the diploma privilege. The effective pass rate for Oregon Law for July 2020 was 99%.
