A degree in law seems to finding favour with more and more graduate engineers.

The data provided by the Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University shows a significant shift in the educational qualification of candidates who apply for LLB.

This year, only 312 arts graduates have been selected for the three-year programme as against 445 science graduates and 322 (240 men and 82 women) graduate engineers. One medical student, a woman, has been admitted.

Vice-Chancellor P. Vanangamudi says the trend of science students opting for law started two or three years ago.

“Earlier, parents’ concern about the marriage of their daughters prevented them from sending their children to law school. But that has changed,” he says.
