Texas Tech law school to host Seventh Court of Appeals

The Texas State Seventh Court of Appeals will hear oral arguments at 10 a.m. on Monday in the Hunt Courtroom of the Texas Tech School of Law, 1802 Hartford Ave.

Law students and the general public are invited to view oral arguments before the Seventh Court of Appeals, which usually presides in Amarillo.

The court, which consists of Chief Justice Brian Quinn and Justices James T. Campbell, Judy Parker and Patrick A. Pirtle, has intermediate appellate jurisdiction over civil and criminal cases appealed from lower courts in 46 Texas counties. Quinn, Parker and Pirtle earned their jurisdoctorates from the Texas Tech School of Law, while Campbell and Pirtle also earned their bachelor’s degrees from Texas Tech.

Several Texas Tech Law School alumni will be arguing cases before the court — Aaron R. Clements with Hurley &Guinn and Jeffrey S. Ford and Justin M. Stevens with the Lubbock County Criminal District Attorney’s Office.
