Professor Gerald S. Reamey accepts the award from Shannon Dacus, 2016-17 Fellows Chair of the Texas Bar Foundation.
St. Mary’s University School of Law Professor Gerald S. Reamey received the 2017 Outstanding Law Review Article Award from the Texas Bar Foundation during an awards dinner Friday in Dallas.
The foundation recognized Reamey for his article entitled “The Truth Might Set You Free: How the Michael Morton Act Could Fundamentally Change Texas Criminal Discovery, or Not,” which appeared in the Texas Tech Law Review in 2016.
The Outstanding Law Review Article Award honors a law review published by one of the Texas law schools.
Reamey, who has been a member of the full-time faculty at the School of Law since 1982, regularly teaches and has published numerous books, as well as law review and journal articles, in the area of criminal law and procedure.
The recipient of several teaching awards, including the St. Mary’s University Distinguished Faculty Award, Reamey is a co-founder of the Institute on World Legal Problems in Innsbruck, Austria. To recognize that role, the City of Innsbruck awarded him the Culture Medal of Honor. He is also a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.
Founded in 1965 by attorneys determined to assist the public and improve the profession, the Texas Bar Foundation has become the largest charitably-funded bar foundation in the country. The School of Law will receive a $1,000 scholarship donation in honor of Reamey’s acceptance of the Outstanding Law Review Article Award.
