Behan appointed acting law school dean

Christopher Behan, associate dean for academic affairs in the School of Law, will serve as acting dean of the school following an announcement by Cynthia Fountaine that she was stepping down effective Sept. 15.  Behan will serve in an acting capacity until the process for naming an interim dean is completed in accordance with the school’s operating paper.

“Associate Dean Behan's leadership and knowledge of the school will serve him well in this new role,” said Chancellor Carlo Montemagno, who announced the appointment.  Montemagno said a national search for a permanent dean will launch later this fall.

Behan joined the School of Law in 2006 after serving as a judge advocate for the U.S. Army and an associate professor of the Judge Advocate General's School in Charlottesville, Virginia. He holds a bachelor's degree in English and a juris doctorate degree, both from Brigham Young University, and a master of law degree in military law from the Judge Advocate General's School.
