In addition to interviews, the Faculty Recruitment Conference offers candidates and school recruitment teams opportunities to socialize and network.

All receptions and lounges listed are open to all candidates. See conference schedule for hours.
The Candidates Lounge is a comfortable place to relax, offering complimentary beverages.
Hospitality suites sponsored by the AALS Sections on Minority Groups and Women in Legal Education are for candidates who wish to discuss topics of interest with representatives from these Sections. On Friday, October 4, each hospitality suite will feature a question and answer session.
Open receptions are held throughout the conference by AALS, the AALS Sections on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Issues and Legal Writing, Reasoning, and Research, and religiously affiliated law schools and the AALS Section on Law and Religion.
Workshop for Faculty Appointments Candidates
FRC begins with a workshop about the academic hiring process that is open to all interested candidates.
Seeking a job as a faculty member is akin to taking a law school exam: adequate preparation is imperative. As with a law school exam, you should know the format of the interview, what questions are going to be asked, and how to respond appropriately to those queries. AALS provides you two tools to help you prepare: audio from a prior Faculty Appointments Candidates Workshop and an invitation to this year’s Workshop to be held Thursday, October 3, 3:30 – 5:15 pm. The past Workshop provides invaluable information that candidates can use far in advance of the actual hiring conference. As to the upcoming Workshop, AALS strongly encourages schools to avoid interviewing during the Workshop so that candidates can attend.
