DURHAM -- North Carolina Central University's School of Law hopes its latest improvements will impress the American Bar Association.

The school announced this week it will make a $300,000 investment into help students pass the bar exam. Resources include more tutors and prep courses.

The move comes after the ABA labeled the school out of compliance with its low admissions standards and low bar exam scores. The ABA says the school has accepted students who can't pass the bar.

“I know we have some new faculty and staff coming into the building, it's an all hands on deck type of situation,” says Aviance Brown, student body president.

The ABA says the school is still accredited. ABA officials have yet to say if the improvements put the school back in compliance.
