The Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) has selected Professor Stacey Tutt to receive the 2016-2017 LEAC Excellence in Legal Education Award. She was nominated by Jeff Brown and the ISBA Standing Committee on Women and the Law. The award is designed to honor a law school program that emphasizes real world skills for students.
Tutt has been with the College of Law since 2011. She developed and directs the Community Preservation Clinic, which teaches students the skills of lawyering while exploring a community-based, non-traditional approach to poverty law. The clinic works to develop and implement a comprehensive response to community blight brought on by the foreclosure crisis.
Tutt will be presented with a plaque in recognition of her service to the profession at the ISBA LEAC Meeting in June.
