Georgia State Law Dean Hensel and Professors to Discuss Rule of Law at Warsaw Conference June 26th

Georgia State University Law Dean Wendy F. Hensel, along with professors Eric J. Segall, Ryan Rowberry and Julian C. Juergensmeyer, will speak at the Poland-U.S. Conference on the Rule of Law held by The Center for American Law Studies at the University of Warsaw Faculty of Law and Administration on June 26.
 
The Center for American Law Studies is a joint program of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw, Georgia State College of Law and Emory University School of Law. The center was created 19 years ago, with Georgia State and Emory joining the program in 2016. It offers a one-year program for law students and graduates with particular interest in the American legal system.
 
Hensel will deliver opening remarks and serve as moderator on the panel “Separation of powers and the rule of law,” of which Segall is a panelist. Rowberry will be on a panel discussing the development and definition of the rule of law and also will moderate the panel with Juergensmeyer on “The rule of law and local governments.”
 
During the academic year, the center offers two-week intensive courses that give students the best understanding of the common law system, unique aspects of the American legal system and the rule of law. Classes are taught by professors from Georgia State Law and Emory Law. In the 2017-18 academic year, Georgia State Law professors Clark Cunningham, Neil Kinkopf, Corneill Stephens, Yaniv Heled and Kelly Timmons taught courses.
 
Also speaking at the event are professors Julie Seaman, Robert B. Ahdieh and Robert A. Schapiro from Emory University School of Law, professor Feridun Yenisey from Bascesehir University in Istanbul, professor Christopf-Eric Mecke of the University of Hannover, professors Adam Bodnar, Tatiana Chauvin, Hanna Machińska, Paweł Marcisz, Ryszard Piotrowski, Dawid Sześciło and Marcin Wiącek from the University of Warsaw and others.
