CLEVELAND, Ohio - Former Ohio Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher has been appointed dean of Cleveland State University's Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.

Fisher was appointed interim dean in June 2016 while CSU searched for a dean to replace Craig Boise, who was appointed dean of the Syracuse University College of Law.

He was chosen after a national search.

Fisher, 65, was earning $235,000 a year. He will now earn a $250,000 base salary and a $10,000 stipend for his dual appointment as Joseph C. Hostetler-Baker & Hostetler Chair.

The university said Fisher will continue to enhance the law school's academic reputation, while building on the innovative efforts Cleveland-Marshall has recently developed to enhance career readiness for its graduates and promote greater connectivity with the Cleveland community.

"I have truly enjoyed leading C|M|LAW for the last year and am extraordinarily honored to be selected as permanent dean," Fisher said in a statement."I look forward to continuing to work with our tremendous faculty and staff to enhance educational experiences for our students and best prepare them to enter the legal workforce."

Fisher served as the Ohio Attorney General from 1991-1995 and as lieutenant governor under Gov. Ted Strickland from 2007-2011. Previously, he spent eight years as a state senator and two years as a state representative.

Fisher was among the candidates in 2016 to replace Edward "Ned" Hill as dean of CSU's Levin College of Urban Affairs. Roland Anglin was appointed.

When Fisher was appointed interim dean he resigned his position as president and CEO of CEOs for Cities, a global, nonprofit network of urban leaders focused on making cities more successful. He continued as a senior advisor for the organization, which he joined in 2011.
