Elon Law announces staff promotions in career services office

Melissa Duncan '06 L'09, Jennifer Gibert Mencarini, and Aisa Turman have assumed new titles and roles in the Office of Career & Student Development.

Three Elon University School of Law staff members have been promoted or assumed new roles in the Office of Career & Student Development as the law school in downtown Greensboro, N.C., continues to enhance professional resources for its students and alumni.

  • Melissa Duncan has been promoted to assistant dean for the Office of Career & Student Development to better reflect her duties in managing an office of five employees. Duncan is a 2009 graduate of Elon Law, a 2006 graduate of Elon University, and previously practiced as a consumer bankruptcy attorney at Duncan Law, LLP with her husband, Damon, before joining the law school staff in 2014.
  • Jennifer Gibert Mencarini has been promoted to director of career development to also reflect her expanded role in the Office of Career & Student Development. In addition to serving as a career advisor since joining the Elon Law staff in July 2015, Mencarini also advises the Elon Law Pro Bono Board. She previously practiced law in Dallas for 11 years before working on diversity initiatives in the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs at Southern Methodist University.
  • Aisa Turman has joined the Office of Career & Student Development as communications coordinator. Within the office, Turman focuses on communications among employers, students, and the law school staff. She also supports the work of the student and employer-related programs that OCSD manages and serves as additional support to students. Turman, a permanent Elon Law employee since early 2017, previously worked as an administrative assistant for Elon Law’s Office of Academic and Bar Support.

​Sue Williams, a longtime Elon Law administrative assistant with a deep knowledge of school history, has filled Turman's previous role as an administrative assistant in the Office of Academic and Bar Support.
