Business Bootcamp Provides Law Students with a Lively Introduction to Business Basics

AUWCL held its first Business Basics Bootcamp, Jan. 4-5, 2018. The 14 hour bootcamp, led by AUWCL Professor Ben Leff, was designed to introduce AUWCL students to business concepts, with distinguished guest instructors covering topics such as:

 

• Fundamental business concepts and skills

• Interpreting financial statements

• Distinguishing amongst a variety of business entities

• Understanding a number of types of financing for business ventures

“We were hearing from our students that a primer in foundational business concepts would really help them understand their law classes, and we were hearing from employers and alumni that some business background would help students hit the ground running in legal practice,” said Leff. “I’m so pleased that our faculty and alumni were available to provide such deep knowledge and experience to our students in this mini-course.”

Friday Morning Session
AUWCL alumni from PricewaterhouseCoopers, Tim Shields ’10 and Justin Cinzano ’10, teach a session on Accounting.

Friday morning’s session on Accounting was led by two AUWCL alumni from PricewaterhouseCoopers, Tim Shields ’10 and Justin Cinzano ’10. Professor Leff led an Introduction to Financial Markets and Professor Heather Hughes gave the participants a complete rundown of the Business Law options at AUWCL.

In addition to AUWCL students, several students admitted for the fall 2018 JD class also participated in the course.
