WASHINGTON, D.C. - JANUARY 9, 2017
-- At the Association of American Law Schools (AALS) Annual Meeting last week in San Francisco, Dean Camille A. Nelson was appointed to a three year term on the AALS Executive Committee.  William & Mary Law School Professor Paul Marcus was appointed president of AALS for 2017, Wendy Collins Perdue, dean of University of Richmond Law School, will serve as president-elect, and Erwin Chemerinsky, dean of UC Irvine School of Law, was also elected to the Executive Committee.

The AALS, of which American University Washington College of Law is a member, is a nonprofit association of 179 law schools. Its mission is to uphold and advance excellence in legal education.

“The AALS remains a leading and vital voice in the role of legal education, and indeed the rule of law, in a rapidly changing professional landscape,” Dean Nelson said. “It is humbling, and a true honor, to have been elected to serve on the AALS executive committee. I am energized by the recent focus and commitment of the organization, and look forward to supporting the work of law schools in educating the next generation of legal leaders.”
