AALS Receives Access Group Grant to Support Public Outreach Efforts

Washington, D.C. (October 6, 2015) – The Association of American Law Schools (AALS) is the recipient of a $250,000 grant from Access Group, Inc. to support the AALS Project in Support of Legal Education. The initiative, launched in 2013, is designed to communicate a more balanced and informed understanding of legal education to key groups outside the legal academy including policymakers, leaders of the bar and bench, the media, prospective law students, and the general public.

“The AALS is grateful for the support from Access Group during this critical time for legal education,” said Judith Areen, Executive Director of AALS. “The support allows AALS to better showcase the innovations and accomplishments of law schools and their cutting-edge approaches to educating lawyers for a changing legal profession.”

The grant will strengthen the association’s public outreach efforts including the AALS website (www.aals.org), which features innovative and outstanding law school programs and faculty, current issues facing the academy, as well as extensive coverage of current news related to legal education and the legal profession.

“Access Group is committed to the development and communication of relevant information to help aspiring law students understand the value that a legal education can offer,” stated Christopher P. Chapman, Access Group’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “We are pleased to support the AALS Project as it complements our efforts in this arena, which seek to increase the availability of critical quantitative and qualitative data alike.”

“The Access Group grant will greatly expand the association’s efforts to provide information and examples of the value of American legal education,” said Blake Morant, AALS President and Dean of The George Washington University Law School. “Their investment ensures that prospective students and the public will have a better understanding of the offerings and innovations at our nation’s law schools. We are grateful for their partnership and support.”
