Process from Law School to practice:
Once the student graduates from the Law School (Major JD) he/she must practice as a lawyer in a law firm for a period of (at least) two years, divided into four semesters.
During each semester, the practitioner must participate at least at 20 court sessions and, at the end of each semester, he must write five reports (about 10 pages each), reporting his/her activity, and send them to the local Bar association.
After these two years successfully spent, the practitioner can apply for the public exam (he/she can apply to the examination at the District of the Court of Appeal of each Region) in order to obtain the lawyer’ license. The exam is divided into two steps.
During the first step (usually every December) he/she must write 3 papers: one solving a case regarding private law; one solving a case regarding criminal law; one writing a procedural act (he/she can choose among the civil, criminal or administrative procedural act).
Once he/she passes the writing part of the exam, he/she can apply for the oral part (between May and September), discussing seven different subjects like: private law, criminal law, civil procedural law, criminal procedural law, administrative law, commercial law, tax law, etc.
