Tech team wins Moot Court Competition

The Texas Tech School of Law advocacy team won the Fifth Annual National Energy and Sustainability Moot Court Competition last weekend.

This is the second time in the past three years Tech has won the event.

The competition, hosted by West Virginia University, is geared toward students who want to work in the field of energy and sustainability law. Participants present cases in front of experienced lawyers, district court and appellate judges. The competition centers around emerging trends in energy law and sustainable energy production.

The Tech team defeated the University of North Dakota, last year's runner-up, in the finals.

As a prize, the students will receive scholarships in recognition of their appellate advocacy skills.

Tech's team consisted of Katherine Handy, Stephanie Ibarra and Clay Watkins.
