Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor to speak at Notre Dame tonight

SOUTH BEND — U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor will speak at 7 p.m. tonight at the University of Notre Dame.

The event, titled "A Conversation with U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor," will be in Leighton Concert Hall in DeBartolo Performing Arts Center.

The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

No backpacks or large bags will be allowed in the event venue.

Sotomayor will discuss a wide range of issues with NBC News correspondent Anne Thompson. The discussion will be moderated by U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Ann Claire Williams.

Williams and Thompson are Notre Dame alumnae and trustees.

Sotomayor has served on the Supreme Court since 2009. She is a 1976 summa cum laude graduate of Princeton University and earned her juris doctor degree from Yale Law School.

The event is sponsored by the Office of the President, Notre Dame Law School and the Institute for Latino Studies.
