The workshop will begin on Thursday, June 27, with registration at 4:00 p.m., followed by a reception and dinner and two days of plenary sessions and small group discussions. The workshop will conclude at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 29. The dinner speaker is Kent D. Syverud, Vanderbilt University. Friday's luncheon speaker is Gerald Torres, University of Texas. AALS Sections on Clinical Legal Education, Legal Writing and Research and Women in Legal Education will host continental breakfasts, and AALS Sections on Minority Groups and Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Issues will host informal evening gatherings.

Hotel
The workshop sessions and sleeping accommodations will be at The Westin Grand Hotel, 2350 M Street, NW, Washington, DC. The room rate is $169.00 for single or double occupancy. This rate is subject to a 14.5% sales tax. To make a reservation: complete the Hotel Reservation Request and mail it to The Westin Grand Hotel; or, if paying by credit card, either call (202) 429-0100 (do not use the toll free reservation number) or fax the form to (202) 429-9759. The cut-off date for making a room reservation is June 6, 2002. Specify the AALS Workshop for New Law Teachers when making a reservation in order to receive the special rate. Availability is not guaranteed to the cut-off date. Please make your hotel reservation early since the block of rooms may sell out before the cut-off date.

Local Transportation
Union Station is three miles from the Hotel; taxi fare is approximately $10.00; add $1.00 during rush hour (7:00-9:30 a.m. and 4:00-6:30 p.m.). Union Station services both Amtrak and Metro (Washington, DC's subway system). On Metro, take the Red Line from Union Station three stops to Metro Center, switching to either Orange or Blue Lines to Foggy Bottom Metro Station.

Washington National Airport is located six miles from the Hotel; taxi fare is approximately $20.00 one way; add $1.00 during rush hour (use a non-metered D.C. cab). Super Shuttle provides door-to-door service (with other stops) to the Hotel at a cost of $9.00 each way. To ride the Metro (Washington, DC's subway system) to the Hotel, take the Blue Line to Foggy Bottom Metro Station.

Dulles International Airport is 27 miles from the Hotel; taxi fare is approximately $65.00 each way (use metered cab). Super Shuttle provides door-to-door service (with other stops) to the Hotel for $22.00 each way. Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) is approximately 50 minutes in non-rush hour from the Hotel. Taxi fare from BWI is approximately $75.00. The MARC Train runs round trips from BWI to Union Station in Washington, DC from Monday through Friday. Depending on the train schedule, this may be the quickest way into Washington, DC. Go to the Amtrak MARC shuttle stop on the lower level ground transportation area outside of baggage claim. Shuttles to the train stop depart every 15 minutes. You may purchase your ticket at the station. One-way fare is $5.00, round-trip $8.75; Visa and MasterCard accepted. The trip to Union Station will take approximately 38 minutes.
