Conference on New Ideas for
Experienced Teachers:
We Teach But Do They Learn?

The conference will begin on Saturday, June 9 with registration at 4:00 p.m., followed by three and one half days of plenary and concurrent sessions and small group discussions. The conference will conclude at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13. In addition to the program sessions, receptions will be held on Saturday and Sunday nights and lunches will be held on Sunday and Tuesday.

Hotel

The conference sessions and sleeping accommodations will be at the Westin Calgary, 320 4th Avenue, SW, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The room rate is $143.00 CAD for single or double occupancy (the room rate on December 4, 2000 was $93.00 USD; check exchange rate). This rate is subject to a nightly 12% sales tax. To make a reservation: complete the Hotel Reservation Request form and mail it to the Westin Calgary; or, if paying by credit card, call (403) 266-1611 (do not use the toll free reservation number) or fax the form to (403) 233-7471.

The cut-off date for making a room reservation is May 18, 2001. Specify the AALS Conference on New Ideas when making a reservation in order to receive the special rate.

Local Transportation

Calgary International Airport is thirteen miles from the hotel and is served by major airlines. Airporter Shuttle Service provides shared ride door-to-door service (with other stops) to the hotel. The fare is $9.00 CAD per person one way or $15.00 CAD per person round trip. The Airporter Shuttle Desk is located on the arrivals level in the main terminal. Shuttles run from 6:30 a.m. until 11:30 p.m., departing the airport on the hour and half hour. Taxi fare to the hotel is approximately $24.00 CAD each way.
