The
University of San Diego
San Diego, CA
The University of San Diego, located in San Diego, California, will consider requests for visiting status from 2Ls and 3Ls students from Tulane and Loyola-New Orleans. We have already admitted about 10 students and have reached the stage at which we can only admit students after examining our particular course openings and whether they coincide with the courses that the students need to take. We will give priority to students with family or friends in the area with whom they can live. Our third week of classes begins on September 6, and so students would also need to be able to get to campus soon. We may need to charge the students a health-services fee, but otherwise we expect that fees and tuition will not be charged, so long as the students have paid or agree to pay requested tuition and fees to their home institutions. If their home institutions do not reopen for the Spring semester, we will accommodate the students for that semester on the same terms as well; if the home institutions do reopen but consent to continuing visiting status, we will consider requests to remain at that point. We can accommodate students from Tulane or Loyola NO for fall or the full year.
They should be upperclass students in good standing at their home institution.
We will accommodate students in classes that have space available. It is not possible to set a limit on the total number of students we can accommodate. That will depend primarily on course interests of the students and space available in specific courses.
We will eventually need confirmation from the home school that the student is in good standing there and has permission to visit, but will allow students to begin their study without requiring the normal documentation.
We will not charge tuition and will leave it up to the students and their home schools to determine what tuition should be paid by the students to their home schools.

The
University of Mississippi School of Law
Oxford , Mississippi
The University of Mississippi School of Law will accept 1L, 2L and 3L J.D. students from Tulane and Loyola (N.O.) as transient students for fall semester 2005. 1L students are advised that there are substantial curricular differences between Tulane, Loyola and the University of Mississippi. For example, at UM the first-year courses in Torts and Contracts are year-long courses, so if a 1L student takes those courses at UM and returns to Tulane or Loyola in the spring, he or she will have taken very different Torts and Contracts courses than those offered at the other schools. In addition, there may be courses that are offered at all three schools that are offered in different semesters, posing some scheduling difficulties for students returning to their home schools in the spring.
Nevertheless, having been so advised, UM will honor the decision of the student regarding attendance here this fall. The school will accept up to 25 students. Students who are residents of Mississippi (i.e., whose parents are Mississippi residents, even though the student might have changed his or her residency to Louisiana) will be able to attend tuition-free for the fall semester if they have paid tuition at their home school. Nonresident students will be able to attend UM paying in-state tuition only. The student must be in good standing as that is defined by his or her home school. The UM Law School will accept the student's declaration of good standing, pending documentation of that fact once it is available.
Classes began on Monday, August 22. The add/drop date for most students is this Friday, September 2, but for students from Tulane and Loyola the University has extended the add/drop date one week to Friday, September 9. Therefore, any students who are interested in attending the UM Law School this fall should contact the school immediately to arrange for enrollment and a class schedule. The administration and faculty will assist students in any make-up work to get them up to speed. Any interested students should contact Ms. Barbara Vinson, Director of Admissions, immediately at 662-915-6910.

Cornell Law School
Ithaca, NY
We are able to offer special non degree visiting status for Fall 2005 to a limited number (12) of second and third year JD students from Tulane Law School and Loyola New Orleans. However, we began our classes on August 24, and therefore, are willing to consider your requests only on the following bases.
1. Before contemplating coming to Ithaca, it is imperative that you contact your family and friends to arrange for housing for the semester. In practical terms, this means that only students with local ties will be able to enroll. The Ithaca housing market is very tight and the law school has no available housing arrangements.
2. We do not have grant or scholarship funds to help you. Our financial aid office will attempt to help you apply for student loans but that process may well be complicated.
3. You must arrive at the Law School by 8AM on Wednesday September 7 ready to begin class. You will already have missed two weeks of the thirteen-week Fall semester. We will not allow you to enroll later than this date.
4. Our Registrar has posted to https://support.law.cornell.edu/students the upperclass courses that remain open to special visiting students. Seminars and clinics are closed but most lecture courses remain available.
5. The administrative offices of the Law School will be closed for Labor Day weekend from 4PM on Friday September 2 until 8AM on September 6. Before you are granted permission to enroll this Fall as a special non degree visiting student, you will need the permission of Associate Dean Anne Lukingbeal, Associate Dean Richard Geiger or Assistant Dean John DeRosa. As soon as you arrive, please report to Room 165 Myron Taylor Hall (Dean Lukingbeal's office). If she is not available, you will be asked to speak with one of the other deans.
6. The deans will speak with you about your academic background. If you have a transcript and resume available, please bring them. Unless we are concerned that you are at risk of not being able to thrive in our rigorous academic environment, we will allow you to enroll for Fall 2005 provided that space remains. Your status will be that of special non degree visiting student. We will not allow you to later transfer into our degree program. Our registrar, Nan Colvin, will assist you in course enrollment. As mentioned above, our capacity is limited to twelve special visiting students for Fall 2005.

William & Mary Law School has been talking with law students from Tulane and Loyola who have contacted us. To the extent space permits, we are accepting 3Ls and 2Ls as visitors for the fall term. Among second-year students, Virginia residents will be given preference. Though there are state constraints regarding tuition that we must satisfy as a state-owned school, no law student from Tulane or Loyola visiting for the fall term at William & Mary Law School will be asked to pay tuition to both their home school and to us. Please contact Faye Shealy, Associate Dean for Admission, at 1-757-221-3784, or ffshea@wm.edu.

The University of Washington Law School will admit as visiting law students, anyone enrolled, and in good standing, at either the Tulane University or Loyola University Law Schools.Visiting students will be permitted to matriculate until such time as their home school is again operational.
We will grant preference to third year and second year students who are Washington residents, or, who have demonstrable ties to Washington. Given our physical limits, we will not accept first year students. We will be able to accommodate a maximum of 15 upper division students.
The Law School and the University will waive tuition for these students on the assumption that they have paid, or will be paying, tuition to their home school. Visiting students are advised that course enrollment may be limited by both UW law student enrollment and available classroom seating.
Classes begin on Monday, September 26, 2005. Students should contact Ms. Kathy Swinehart, swinehar@u.washington.edu , for application information. We will rely on student assurances that they are in good standing at their home institutions, pending subsequent confirmation from either Tulane or Loyola.

Virginia University College of Law
Morgantown, WV
WVU will admit students for fall term as transient or visiting students. If the school in which they are enrolled does not reopen for the spring semester, then the students could continue for the spring semester. We will accept as transient students 3L, 2L or 1L from Tulane or Loyola, New Orleans.
Students who have paid tuition and fees for the fall semester will not be charged tuition and fees at WVU. However, if the transient student wishes to use the Recreation Center or attend athletic events, the appropriate activity fees must be paid. If the student continues at WVU, financial arrangements for the spring semester will have to be reached later. We will work with the home school as to an appropriate way to reflect credit for courses completed at WVU. Our preference would be to have credit reflected on the home school transcript since that is the school in which the student is enrolled and to which the student paid tuition and fees and will be the degree granting institution.
We anticipate we can accommodate 15 students (five 1L and ten 2L/3L).
Beginning September 6, 2005: Janet L. Armistead, Assistant Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs, e-mail janet.armistead@mail.wvu.edu, phone 304-293-7320.

University
of Wisconsin Law School
Madison, Wisconsin
We are prepared to admit students from the J.D. programs of Tulane and Loyola – New Orleans as visiting students for the Fall 2005 semester, subject to the conditions below. Our classes begin on Tuesday, September 6, although we recognize that some affected students will be unable to arrive on campus by that date.
Second- and Third-Year Students: We will admit as a visiting student any student who is a resident of Wisconsin or Minnesota (with whom Wisconsin shares tuition reciprocity). We will consider applications from students who are residents of other states, on a space available basis, if there are special reasons for them to be in Madison, such as the opportunity to reside with friends or family.
We will accept the students' representation that they are in good standing at their home schools. Transfer of the credits earned at Wisconsin will require the approval of their home schools, and at present there remain some questions as to the circumstances under which Tulane and Loyola may grant that approval, particularly as to second-year students.
First-Year Students: Until we receive clearer guidance from Tulane or Loyola, we are not prepared to consider first-years on a visiting-student basis. We deeply sympathize with the plight of the first-year students at those schools, but also recognize that transferring credit for visiting-student work during the first year presents special issues for the home school. If at some time in the very near future either Tulane or Loyola chooses to grant that approval, we will follow the same residency guidelines as listed above. Until this issue is resolved, students who meet those residency guidelines are free to sit in on our first-year classes.
Tuition: All visiting students will be required to pay tuition. For residents of Wisconsin and Minnesota that tuition will be at the appropriate in-state level. For non-residents, the University administration is presently exploring whether partial credit may be given for tuition paid to the student's home school or other reductions from the full rate of out-of-state tuition may be available.
Contact information: Please direct your inquiries to Michael A. Hall, Assistant Dean for Admissions and Financial Aid -- mahall2@wisc.edu; 608-262-5914.
