Guided by a seven person AALS Steering Committee, 19 Colloquia will be convened during the next academic year. The planning for each Colloquium will be carried out by a committee composed of area law school faculty and key members of legal services programs, public defender offices, nonprofit and private public interest law firms, and others involved in the provision of legal services in the respective city, state, or region. Each Colloquium will focus on issues relevant to the concerns and interests of the city, state, or region. The Colloquia will highlight innovative law school pedagogy, scholarship, and service designed to promote equal justice in a variety of arenas where existing legal systems have proven systemically unable to provide adequate representation.
