Subject: List of Names of Faculty Retiring

                        Before Academic Year 2000-2001, October Publication

 

 

            Many schools have expressed interest in recruiting visiting faculty members from among those who have retired from other law schools.  The Association therefore asks you each year to provide the names of retiring faculty members at your schools.  This enables the Association to publish, in memoranda to deans in the fall and winter, a list of all retiring faculty.  The first list for the upcoming academic year will be published in mid-October.

 

            Therefore, please send us the names of those members of your full-time faculty who will retire before August 2000.  Please do not make a retiring faculty member's expressed willingness to consider an offer a prerequisite to your sending us the name.  We have found that some faculty members who would be willing to consider invitations from other schools might nevertheless be uncomfortable taking the initiative to make that interest known.

 

            We would like to distribute the list by October 15 and would therefore appreciate a response by October 10.  Please inform us if additional names become available at a later time so they can be included in the mid-February mailing.

 

            Finally, the names of those who have retired this past spring will be re-published and included with the list of names of those retiring after the spring of 1999.  Thus, you will be receiving two lists in October.
