MEMORANDUM 06-25

TO: Deans of Member and Fee-Paid Schools

FROM: Elizabeth Hayes Patterson, Deputy Director

SUBJECT: "Hot Topics" 2007 - Annual Meeting

Once again, the Executive Committee has reserved time at the 2007 Annual Meeting schedule for a program devoted to a late-breaking legal issue or topic. At the Annual Meeting in 2006, there were two Hot Topics panel presentations.

Faculty members who are interested in organizing a panel on such an issue or topic will have the opportunity to submit proposals until Friday, November 24, 2006. The purpose of this special “hot topics” slot is to provide a forum for a panel presentation on a timely and important issue of general interest that may arise after the deadline for section and other programs.

Proposals will be evaluated by the Immediate Past President of the AALS in consultation with the Executive Committee. If no program proposals are chosen for any particular year, the reserved slot will not otherwise be filled.

Please inform your faculty of this opportunity. Proposals may be sent to the AALS Deputy Director Elizabeth Hayes Patterson, Association of American Law Schools, 1201 Connecticut Ave. N.W., Suite 800; Washington, D.C. 20036-2717 or by email to epatterson@aals.org.
