MEMORANDUM 06-04

TO: Deans of Member and Fee-Paid Schools
FROM: Jane M. La Barbera, Associate Director
SUBJECT: 2006-07 Directory of Law Teachers - Materials for Updating Entries

Those of you who had the privilege of hearing AALS President Judith Areen's address at the meeting of the 2006 AALS House of Representatives are aware that AALS has created a new Committee on International Cooperation, and has divided what had been the Committee on Curriculum and Research into two separate committees, one on Curriculum and one on Research.

The new Committee on International Cooperation will promote the work of the new International Association of Law Schools and will also advise the AALS Executive Committee regarding other outreach measures the AALS could engage in to assist U.S. law schools in their efforts to work more closely with colleagues in other countries.

The Committee on Curriculum will identify curriculum reform efforts being undertaken by law schools and provide information to law schools about such efforts.

The Committee on Research will focus on ways to encourage more scholarship about legal education and help identify topics that should be the subject of further research.

The names of the members of these new committees are attached. Please feel free to contact me or committee members with any suggestions you might have for projects that should be undertaken by AALS and these committees.
