MEMORANDUM 05-26
| TO: | Deans of Member and Fee-Paid Schools |
| FROM: | Carl C. Monk |
| SUBJECT: | New AALS Committees |
In order to promote global cooperation and collaboration, the AALS Executive Committee decided to establish a new AALS Committee on International Cooperation. President-elect Judith Areen will appoint nine people to this Committee, which will begin operation in January 2006. All appointees will have a three year term. Prior to the conclusion of the three years, the Executive Committee will determine whether this should become a new standing committee of AALS. We invite you to submit names of qualified individuals to serve on the new committee, together with your suggestions for all other AALS standing committees, by sending them to the attention of Executive Assistant, Kim Milford at the AALS offices. Her email address is kmilford@aals.org.
The Executive Committee also decided to split the current Curriculum and Research Committee into two separate committees, one on Curriculum Issues and one on Research. This decision was based on the understanding that many faculty may have an interest in research on legal education, or an interest in curriculum development, but not necessarily be interested in both. President-elect Areen will offer current members of the Committee on Curriculum and Research the opportunity to decide which of the new committees they would like to serve on, and will appoint new members to both committees. Suggestions for appointments to these committees should also be sent to Kim Milford.
