Subject: User Name and Password for AALS Faculty Appointments Register (FAR) Online

 

The Association of American Law Schools (AALS) has recently updated the online Faculty Recruitment Services. The Faculty Appointments Register (FAR) online has new features to assist School Recruitment Teams. An important feature of the online application is that your school now maintains the names of your Recruitment Team Members.

You will use the user name and password provided in the attachment to begin entering the names of your Recruiters giving them access to the FAR online services. The attachment also provides the steps on how to enter your Team Members' names.

As in previous years, the FAR allows candidates interested in law teaching to input their qualifications and experiences directly into a database via the web. Recruiters with user names and passwords are able to access that database from any computer with web access and use search criteria to find candidates to invite to interview. Candidates have already begun entering data for the 2003-2004 Faculty Appointments Register. The first of four Distributions of the FAR will be available for Recruiters to search on August 30, 2003. Your Recruitment Team may access the online FAR database after this date by visiting www.aals.org/recruit/ and clicking on the "candidate search" link. In order to access the FAR database, the Recruiter must have a user name and password.

Candidates have the option of providing a full resume in addition to the FAR one page form. When your online search produces a list of candidates, a "resume" link will appear next to the name of each candidate, who has provided a full resume online, allowing you to download and print the full resume.

Please be advised that this will be the last year that AALS will send to each law school a hard copy of each FAR Distribution since each Recruitment Team Member now has the capability of printing one or all FAR forms from their own printer.

We consider the FAR to be confidential information and we provide access to only Recruiters to protect the privacy of candidates, so please handle the user names and passwords with care.
