As you know, the Journal of Legal Education has been published for the past four and a half years at Vanderbilt University, co-edited by Deans Kent Syverud and Don Welch. Their term as editors concludes at the end of this calendar year. The Executive Committee thanks Kent and Don for their excellent work in editing the Journal since January 1999.
The Executive Committee recently reviewed proposals to host and edit the Journal for the five-year period 2004 through 2008. Because one of the proposals was from AALS President Mark Tushnet and the Georgetown University Law Center, Mark played no role in the deliberations or decision-making process and the meeting was chaired by President elect Gerald Torres.
I am very pleased to announce that the proposal of the Georgetown University Law Center, with Mark Tushnet and Carrie Menkel-Meadow as co-editors, has been approved by the Executive Committee.
Legal education is fortunate to have scholars of the caliber of Carrie and Mark to serve as editors for the next five years. I am sure they will continue to build upon the good work of Kent Syverud and Don Welch and other prior editors of the Journal.
