MEMORANDUM 00-33

September 26, 2000

To: Deans of Member and Fee-Paid Schools, Interested Registrants and Exhibitors at the 2001 Annual Meeting
From: Jane M. La Barbera
Subject: Description of Suites Available at the 2001 Annual Meeting

Attached you will find floor plans and brief descriptions of the various suites that are available at the three participating hotels, the Hilton San Francisco and Towers, Renaissance Parc Fifty-Five and Hotel Nikko in San Francisco for the AALS Annual Meeting to be held January 3-6, 2001.

To make a suite reservation for the 2001 Annual Meeting, please mail or fax the housing reservation form (the Annual Meeting registration and housing reservation forms will be sent to you under separate cover in October) as instructed below. Please note that the Annual Meeting Registration Form is sent to a different location than the Housing Reservation Form.

Your hotel reservation requires a mandatory deposit by check or credit card. The housing bureau will not make your reservation unless a deposit is provided. The deposit is $200 for a one-bedroom suite or $300 for a two-bedroom suite at any of the three hotels. Credit cards will be billed immediately. Official confirmation of your suite and hotel selection will be sent to you from the San Francisco Housing Bureau. Please note that you must register for the Annual Meeting in order to receive the convention room rate.

  • If paying deposit by credit card, you may fax the form to the San Francisco Housing Bureau at (800) 521-6017.

  • If paying deposit by check, mail form and check (made payable to San Francisco Housing Bureau) to: San Francisco Housing Bureau, 108 Wilmot Road, P.O. Box 825, Suite 400, Deerfield, IL 60015-0825.
Reservations for suites must be mailed or faxed. Reservations for suites will not be accepted by phone or online.

If your first choice of a suite is no longer available and there is a comparable suite (description and price) available at another hotel, the San Francisco Housing Bureau will automatically assign it. If a suite type is not available and the next available type is an increase in price per night, the San Francisco Housing Bureau will call you with available options.

Changes or cancellation of your hotel reservation before December 21st can be made after you have received your confirmation by contacting the San Francisco Housing Bureau by phone (800) 424-5256 or fax (800) 521-6017. After December 21st, wait until December 27th and then make change or cancellation directly with your assigned hotel.

If you cancel your hotel reservation before December 21st, a full refund of your deposit will be made by check or to the credit card used to make the deposit for your hotel reservation. If you cancel after December 21st but before 6:00 p.m. on the date of arrival a refund of your deposit less $16 will be made by check. (Even if you originally paid the deposit by credit card, the refund will be by check.) No refunds are given if cancellation is received after 6:00 p.m. on the date of arrival. Should you need to cancel your reservation, be sure to obtain a cancellation number from the hotel.
