Subject: 2000 Faculty Recruitment Conference

 

The 2000 Faculty Recruitment Conference (FRC) will be held at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, from Thursday, November 2 through Saturday, November 4, 2000.

Enclosed is a form [not available on website] on which we ask you to designate the person responsible for administering your school's faculty recruitment efforts in Washington, D.C. The AALS will direct all subsequent communications to that "contact person," as well as to the dean. We must receive this information to ensure that you receive all information regarding the Faculty Recruitment Conference.

Also enclosed is the 2000 FRC Timetable with important deadline dates. We will try to adhere as closely as possible to the timetable. We will send the contact person the forms needed to make your school's interviewing suite arrangements on or about July 28.

Please return the enclosed sheet to Mary Judkins in our office by Friday, June 16. If you wish, you may fax this information to her attention. Our fax number is (202) 296-8869.

FACULTY RECRUITMENT CONFERENCE
TIMETABLE

June 16 Deadline date for receipt by AALS of form identifying the school's Faculty Recruitment Conference contact person.
July 28 AALS sends contact person information and forms concerning reserving interview rooms, ordering room service and housekeeping requirements for the interview rooms, and supplying preliminary list of names of faculty recruitment team members. This year schools make recruitment team members hotel reservations directly with the hotel, with the exception of the team member(s) staying in the interviewing suite.
August 10 Deadline date for receipt by AALS of ads for September 1 Placement Bulletin (#1).
August 24 Deadline date for receipt by AALS of ads for September 15 Placement Bulletin (#2).
August 2 First Faculty Appointments Register Distribution.
August 25 Deadline date for receipt by AALS of information solicited in the July 28 mailing concerning interview rooms, preliminary team members list, interview room "room service" and housekeeping requirements.
September 8 Second Faculty Appointments Register Distribution.
September 14 Deadline date for receipt by AALS of ads for October 6 Placement Bulletin (#3).
September 22 Third Faculty Appointments Register Distribution.
September 25 AALS sends interview room assignments to contact person.
October 6 Fourth Faculty Appointments Register Distribution.
October 6 Schools to finalize interviewing room/suite arrival and departure dates and fax to AALS.

Deadline for schools to apply for direct billing from Marriott Wardman Park Hotel.

October 10 Cut off date for hotel reservations for Recruitment Team members not staying in the interviewing room/suite because rooms will be released for sale to general public.
October 20 Schools provide AALS with Final Team Members List for those attending FRC (Attachment #2) for badges and list to be distributed to candidates and other schools recruiting at the conference.
October 31 Schools may make changes or cancellations in interviewing room/suite reservations directly with the hotel (202) 328-2000 (do not use toll free reservation number. Prior to this date, changes and cancellations in interviewing room/suite reservations are made with AALS.
November 2-
November 4 		Faculty Recruitment Conference, Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, Washington, D.C.
January 11, 2001 Deadline date for receipt by AALS of ads for February 2 Placement Bulletin (#4).
February 8 Deadline date for receipt by AALS of ads for March 2 Placement Bulletin (#5).
February 9 Fifth Faculty Appointments Register Distribution.
March 15 Deadline date for receipt by AALS of ads for April 6 Placement Bulletin
