Open Tuesday-Thursday and Sunday 9:30 a.m.-5:30p.m.; Friday -Saturday 9:30 a.m.-9:00 p.m. The Metropolitan museum offers a broad spectrum of world art and world famous masterpieces.

Open Tuesday - Sunday: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Museum of the City of New York explores the past, present, and future of New York City and embraces the city’s cultural diversity.

National Academy Museum and School of Fine Arts, 1083 Fifth Avenue at 89th Street (Subway: Lexington 4, 5, or 6 to 86th Street); http://www.nationalacademy.org/ ; (212) 369-4880; Hours: Closed Monday - Tuesday. Open Wednesday-Thursday 12:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m., Friday-Sunday 11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. The National Academy Museum and School of Fine Arts maintains a museum and an art school. The museum presents permanent collections of 19 th and 20 th century American art as well as traveling exhibits.

Open Saturday-Monday & Thursday 11:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. and Friday 11:00 a.m.- 9:00 p.m. The Neu Galerie is amuseum for German and Austrian Art.

Open Saturday-Wednesday 10:00 a.m.- 5:45 p.m. and Friday 10:00 a.m.- 7:45 p.m. The Guggenheim displays modern and contemporary international art as well as films which rotate throughout the year.

Ellis Island Immigration Museum, Located in the New York Harbor accessible via the Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island Ferry from Battery Park in lower Manhattan (Subway: from Manhattan R train to Whitehall Station. Walk through Battery Park to Castle Clinton to purchase ferry tickets); http://www.ellisisland.com/ ; ( 212) 561-4500   ; Hours: Both Liberty Island and Ellis Island are open every day of the year 9:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. except December 25 (with extended hours in the summer). The Ellis Island Immigration Museum houses exhibits and interactive displays dedicated to America’s immigrant heritage.

The Lower East Side Tenement Museum's provides a presentation and interpretation of the variety of immigrant and migrant experiences on Manhattan's Lower East Side.
