The AALS Scholarly Papers competition began in 1988 as a way to encourage and recognize scholarship among newer law teachers. Since that time, the competition has grown greatly in size; 68 papers were submitted for the 2005 award. The competition is limited to law professors with seven or fewer years of experience. The papers cannot have been previously published and all author-identification must have been removed to ensure anonymity in judging. Information regarding submission deadlines for the 2006 competition will be sent to schools early in 2005.
