Julian L. Lonbay, President, European Law Faculties Association

Julian L. Lonbay is the President of the European Law Faculties Association and Senior Lecturer at the University of Birmingham, Birmingham, England, where he teaches European Community Law, International Law and Human Rights Law. He visited the University of Indiana, Bloomington, as an associate professor, and has been Professeur Invité at the Faculty of Law and Economic Science in the University of Limoges, France. He is currently the UK representative on the Training Committee of the Council of the Bars and Law Societies of the European Union (CCBE), President of the European Law Faculties Association (ELFA), treasurer of the UK Committee for Comparative Law (UKNCCL) and is active in many other professional societies. His research interests center on the law relating to legal education; lawyers and other professionals; and cross-border practice and the rules affecting such practice. He has undertaken several major research projects in these areas.

Professor Lonbay was the Director of the Institute of European Law until September 2000 and is currently Assistant Head of School External Relations. Professor Lonbay has co-authored several books, including Training Lawyers in the European Community and International Professional Practice. He also has written numerous articles in these and other areas.
