Last fall, the Association assumed responsibility for the administration and maintenance of the Women Deans' Databank from the Georgetown University Law Center. Over the years the Databank has been a great resource for law school dean search committees to identify women candidates, and it has been a very effective vehicle for women law faculty and administrators to enter the dean search market. Currently, there are approximately 25 women serving as law school deans, many of who were participants in the Databank.
In an effort to increase the awareness of this resource for law school dean search committees, and to encourage increased interest on the part of women law faculty and administrators to consider the role of a law school dean as a career opportunity, the Executive Committee is sponsoring this roundtable discussion group of current and former women deans to share their perspectives on what it takes to be a successful dean candidate; what to expect and how to prepare for the dean search process, and the different pathways one can take to becoming a dean. The panelists will also share their experiences about the many rewards and challenges in serving as a law school dean.
Questions will be taken directly from the audience concerning these various topics. This program promises to provide a very dynamic discussion with representatives who have varied experiences and come from a wide range of schools.
