Gala Reception
Created by an act of Congress in 1980, the National Building Museum is dedicated to exploring and celebrating architecture, design, engineering, construction, and urban planning. Designed in 1881 by civil engineer and U.S. Army General Montgomery C. Meigs, the building, which originally housed the Pension Bureau, is widely recognized as a marvel of engineering. An ingenious system of windows, vents, and open archways allows the Great Hall to function as a reservoir of light and air.
(Registrant and spouse badges permit entry to the Gala Reception. Tickets for registrants' children only are available for purchase in advance of the Reception, but will not be available for sale at the National Building Museum. Plan to purchase them before you board the bus. The price for a child's guest ticket is $33 (children age 5-20) or $70 (children age 21 and over). Children under age 5 are free. Tickets are not available for purchase for anyone other than registrants' children.)
