Moderator:
Jane Kaufman Winn, Southern Methodist University

Speakers:
Mark E. Budnitz, Georgia State University (view material)
Walter Effross, American University
Christina L. Kunz, William Mitchell College of Law

According to a Department of Commerce study released in May 2001, e-commerce now accounts for nearly half a trillion dollars a year in the U.S. Lawyers in practice routinely deal with electronic contracts; electronic contracting issues will only grow in relevance to lawyers and clients in the future. Issues raised by electronic commerce can be addressed in existing courses in contracts and commercial law as well as in new course offerings. This panel will identify points in traditional contracts and commercial law courses where electronic commerce issues can be raised. Presenters will provide concrete examples and practical guidance on how issues raised by new technology can be integrated and harmonized with existing teaching materials. In addition, pointers to helpful new materials from a variety of sources that might supplement existing courses or support new courses will also be provided
