The first stop will be Hamilton Field, where the group will take a look at a prerestoration site. The second stop will be the Sonoma Baylands, an active restoration site where work has been underway for six years. Please be prepared for possible muddy walking conditions at this site. After lunch and a wine tasting at a winery which has ninety acres of restored fresh water wetlands on its property (binoculars are recommended), the group will attend a panel discussion on environmental problems in the Napa-Sonoma wine country, particularly pest control and erosion management. The afternoon will conclude with a visit to an experimental vineyard run by a resource conservation district.

The architect was Arthur Brown Jr., who also designed San Francisco’s Opera House, Veterans Building, Temple Emanuel, Coit Tower and 50 United Nations Plaza.

Once again restored and reopened in 1999, the beautiful 24-carat gold dome soars 306 feet from the ground for the entire city to see. The grand public Light Courts on the main floor of the building have been restored to their original design with elegant marble walls and skylights spanning the entire 7,000 square foot space.

Buses will board between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
