Advancing the Legal Academy: Strategies for Recruiting People of Color as Law Professors

Moderator:

Angela J. Davis, American University

Speakers:
Gabriel Jackson Chin, University of Cincinnati
Gilbert A. Holmes, Texas Wesleyan University

The Committee on Recruitment and Retention of Minority Law Teachers has focused much of its energy on developing and supporting new and existing strategies for recruiting law professors of color, including recruitment workshops and conferences, fellowships and LL.M programs. The program will explore the success of their strategies and how they might be improved. There will be a demonstration of the Teachlaw Website developed by faculty and staff at the University of Cincinnati, and a discussion of other new ideas developed during the past year. Faculty, appointment committee members, and deans interested in recruiting professors of color should attend this program, which will include an interactive roundtable discussion among the panelists and audience.
